Transparent or Just Words

May 21, 2010

NEWSMAX has an article published Thursday, May 20, 2010  about how Obama is hiding from the press.   Well, how can that be true, every time I turn on TV, there he is. Here is a snippet:

Observers couldn’t help but notice the irony: President Barack Obama on Monday signed the Press Freedom Act, then refused to take any questions from members of the press.

In a broader sense, the event was another demonstration of Obama’s standoffish relationship with the news media — despite his campaign vow of a “transparent” administration.

Obama has not fielded questions at a full-blown press conference since way back on July 22, 2009.

Water for Health Care?

March 19, 2010

I had the Glenn Beck TV program on while I was busy in the kitchen this afternoon, when this segment caught my attention and I had to stop and take notes.  If this is true and it certainly sounds like it…this is downright scary!!!

First some background:  You may or may not know about the situation in the San Joaquin Valley (SJV).  The SJV is a huge flat valley in central California that produces (or used to) a large amount of our produce.  The water has basically been shut off to the farmers.   There have been billions of water diverted from the farms because of a very small bait fish–the delta smelt.   Now who is responsible for this…why it is the Department of the Interior.

There has been a very long struggle to get the water turned back on and get these farmers back in production.  This area has between 20-40% unemployment.  The water is still not back on.

Here are my notes from the segment.  Glenn interviewed Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) from district 21, which is in the SJV.   The thinking is that Rep. Jim Costa (D-CA) district 20 and Rep Dennis Cardoza (D-CA) district 18 were bought off with water to their districts for their votes on health care.

Now let that just sink in for a moment.

If you vote for the federal takeover of the health care industry (because that is where it is going) and we will turn on the water.

But wait there is more…

Another shocking thing that Nunes stated:

We only get 25% of our water for 100% of health care.

Nunes then went on to compare the current administration to Saddam Hussein who starved his people of water and another delightful person Robert Mugabe who is currently starving his people.

Let me give you some background on Mugabe… Robert Mugabe is President of Zimbabwe, who compares himself to Hilter and basically stole the farmland in his country which was once the “bread basket” of southern Africa and major agricultural exporter.  Now…Zimbabwe depends on food programs and support from outside to feed its people to avoid starvation.  okay back to the program…

Now compare this to a year with 129% of rainfall and the government deems only 25% can be given to the farmers.  Unbelievable!!

Beck asked Nunes about the situation and if he was really saying what he was saying.  Yes!  was the answer.  Don’t you think the timing is suspect, it is announced just before the vote and not when it was originally scheduled to be announced.

Nunes went on to say that Pelosi and team were elected long before he was born and they want to create a new America.  If you look at the SJV, we are what happens when you create a socialist utopia they want.

What are the ramifications?  Nunes went on to say, that these characters go back to the 1960’s radical times started in San Francisco, they created a machine that gradually put environmental regulations in place.   When you look back at the 1980’s, the logging industry was turned off.  Then they started turning off the water slowly over the years until they just shut it off this last year.

Folks this is coming to the rest of America. This used to be a valley of hard working farmers and farm workers.  That is now between 20% and 40% unemployment and they can’t even feed their families.

They think from here in Washington they can control the masses.

Hope and Change for the Simple Minded

February 25, 2010

This is jaw-dropping!

This is another “stay on message” that Obama started in his State of the Union speech…the problem with and the reason the health care reform has not passed is that Obama has not explained it to us simple minded people.

The underlying thought to this message…YOU ARE DUMB and need to hear SIMPLE THINGS like HOPE and CHANGE!

Let’s see, did you get those descriptions:

  • failure to understand anything unless it is simple
  • phobias to anything visionary
  • we need things explained in much much simpler terms, you know like “Health Care for Dummies” — especially those TEA Party folks

And oh my, I have such concern for Obama.  Just imagine the burden he carries for being so bright.  It must be such a burden for him.   Is that why I feel that every time he speaks “to the people”, I feel like I am being scolded in a parent/child relationship.

Control of the Internet

August 29, 2009

The Drudge report had a link to a CNET article titled:

“Bill would give Obama emergency control of internet”

I was curious of course and followed the link which took me to CNET.   If you are not familiar with CNET, it is a website all about technology.  I have long trusted CNET,  have used their reviews when purchasing and guides/forums to make that technology work!  Great site.

Anyway, I was very surprised to see this article on CNET–this is not where I would go to see political news.   Here is a snippet from the article:

CNET News has obtained a copy of the 55-page draft of S.773 (excerpt), which still appears to permit the president to seize temporary control of private-sector networks during a so-called cybersecurity emergency

S. 773   is titled Cybersecurity Act of 2009 (Introduced in Senate), just follow the link to read the bill yourself.

Here is a snippet right out of the bill:

(13) President Obama said in a speech at Purdue University on July 16, 2008, that `every American depends–directly or indirectly–on our system of information networks. They are increasingly the backbone of our economy and our infrastructure; our national security and our personal well-being. But it’s no secret that terrorists could use our computer networks to deal us a crippling blow. We know that cyber-espionage and common crime is already on the rise. And yet while countries like China have been quick to recognize this change, for the last eight years we have been dragging our feet.’ Moreover, President Obama stated that `we need to build the capacity to identify, isolate, and respond to any cyber-attack.’.

(terrorists is my emphasis) I thought that Homeland Security told us the ‘war on terror’ was over, we don’t call them terrorists anymore.  But since President Obama gave the speech last year, it is really old news anyway, right.  So which is it–terrorists or not.

Oh, and did you see we are going to model our internet security after China!!!  The land of the not free.

This bill permits the president to take temporary control of private networks during a cybersecurity emergency.  This gives the president more power…declare a cybersecurity emergency, take control of private networks–yours or your company.

That is not all folks.  Not only that, but now IT security folks will need to become licensed by the government and it will be unlawful for them to provide security services for the Federal agency or a critical network as defined by the president or his designee.  This is just more bureaucracy.

Here is another snippet:

SEC. 17. AUTHENTICATION AND CIVIL LIBERTIES REPORT.

Within 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act, the President, or the President’s designee, shall review, and report to Congress, on the feasibility of an identity management and authentication program, with the appropriate civil liberties and privacy protections, for government and critical infrastructure information systems and networks.

This is the entire wording for this section, what do you think this is all about… sounds like how to manage your identity, accounts, passwords.   I would think authentication systems were already in place, so what does this really mean?

Here is the definition of critical infrastructure information systems included in the bill:

(3) FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND UNITED STATES CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND NETWORKS- The term `Federal Government and United States critical infrastructure information systems and networks’ includes–

(A) Federal Government information systems and networks; and

(B) State, local, and nongovernmental information systems and networks in the United States designated by the President as critical infrastructure information systems and networks.

Let your Senator know what you think about this bill
