Sunday Blitz Wrap-up: Meet The Press

Couldn’t help myself, I did watch the 9/20/09 Sunday morning blitz.   I am beginning to think this compulsion is like when you drive by an accident, you are compelled to look at the accident.    Although, not much new was revealed, there were a few interesting points:

Meet The Press with David Gregory on NBC www.mtp.msnbc.com

Obama states:

But I think you actually put your finger on what this argument’s really about.  And it’s an argument that’s gone on for the history of this republic.  And that is what’s the right role of government?  How do we balance freedom with our need to look after one another?

Obama is implying that government is the answer to our all issues.

Now, compare Obama’s statement to what Reagan said in 1988:

The ten most dangerous words in the English language are “Hi, I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.”

Did you notice Obama referred to the U.S.A as a republic.  Last week in his Presidential Proclamation 8418, he called us a democracy:

To succeed, the democracy established in our Constitution requires the active participation of its citizenry.

Will follow up soon with the ABC showing.

  1. Sharon says:

There is no “balancing” freedom. You can’t be “a little bit free.”
