I Pledge to President Obama (updated)

Wow!  You have to see this.
I followed a link from the Drudge report to the Salt Lake Tribune article “Parents upset over leftist propaganda video” that you can read here. The article talks about a video that opens with an image of President Barack Obama and part of a speech in which he says, “Let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other.”  The video was shown at an assembly and the principal realized after it played that it was a mistake to show and wished she had seen it before hand.

I found the video on youtube, click here to watch, you have to see this.  The video starts out with the famous Che picture of President Obama and the statement that he has the loneliest job, so lets support him.  It is 4 minutes of celebrity stating what they pledge to do, from freeing slaves, not flushing the toilet after no 1, not using plastic bottles or bags, selling their car and getting a hybrid, you name it, it was probably there.

It ends with the question, what is your pledge?  Then Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher state “I pledge to be a servant to our president and all mankind” while the rest of the celebs chime in a chorus and they fade away to become pixels within the picture of President Obama Che.  I just sat there and thought, we are all just  little peons compared to “The One”.

Here is a 2 minute video from ABC 4 news report, click here to see the news report.

Wow is all I can say right now.

Update:  I took a break before I finished, wanted to get it right.

Harpo productions produced the video, for those that don’t know that is Oprah’s production company.

I agree with the upset parents and that it should not have been shown.  The principal immediately knew she made a mistake and issued an apology letter.

What is disturbing to me is the mixture of “do good” items with the allegiance or pledging to the Obama brand.   This takes us to dangerous territory, that I don’t want to go.

An excellent business executive that I know once said, you need to say something 7 times before it sinks in.  You see this technique in use about 3:47 into the video after many repetitive I Pledge do good items that you can agree with.   As you are watching, you are probably shaking your head, yes, yes, agree and then you are asked 6-7 times, what is your pledge, what is your pledge, what is your pledge, what is your pledge, what is your pledge, what is your pledge and then provided with the stunning answer: “I pledge to be a servant to our president and all mankind”.   Really?

If you are up to watching another video–I Pledge A Conservative Viewpoint, this is inspiring to watch this young lady respond back to the Harpo/Ashton/Demi video with her pledges, including the Pledge of Allegiance.
